I know, sometimes it isnt easy to find a nice nickname !

But nicks like ROMMEL makes me a bit angry !!!

I wont say Erwin Rommel was a real nazi ( i am German an know what i am talking about )
But E. Rommel was the favorit general of A.H. !!!

I my opinion,it isnt nice to read nicknames like this !

What do you think ?

cheers

Not realy !

I will say 50/50.

At first he was a german general and soldier.
At least he was standing closer to A.H. than any other gerneral.
But,he was absolutly involved in A.H. way of war !!!
So,he was a big part of the nazis.

Well, its my personal opinion to say nicknames like ROMMEL arent fine to read.

cheers,
Sgt Hill

Just my tuppence worth:
Rommel,AFAIK {and im happy to be corrected if im wrong}, never committed the atrocities associated with Nazi Germany, as in, the extermination of Minority groups, The Jewish communities ,gypsies, etc. Sure there was the death of countless thousands of allied soldiers, in both north Africa and Normandy{when he was put in charge of the Atlantic wall} but that was his job, the same as it was with Monty,Soldiers dying is what is supposed to happen in war, {communities, races, religions being wiped out isnt}

He was a General in the German army, and was both feared and respected by the Allies, his Desert Fox nickname came about because of his intelligent understanding of war. he was by all accounts an adversary worthy of respect, nothing like the Klaus Barbies, the Himmlers, Goerbels,Hermann Goering, Ilse Koch.,Franz Stagl, Adolph Eichmen etc etc etc. Who all appeared to have a sadistic " evil" streak in them, killing , torturing maiming ,purely for fun rather than the cause and effects of war

Sgt Hill, i see you are German , so i hope i havent offended you on this, but as a Brit, that was my take on Rommel,. and i wouldnt be offended playing against anyone using that name..

Sgt Hill we try to keep our hands off of the games of our guests as much as we can. We prefer to let people play by their own style. That is why we try to keep our rules to a minimum. In the case of avatar names, we are very careful, when we decide what name is not allowed. For a name to be dis-allowed it has to be offensive to a large population. We cannot accept a personal opinion, not widely held. I am glad you brought this to our attention. In this case the association of Rommel is that of a German military professional. It is agreed that he had nazi sympathies, but he kept to his job and let the sadists do their work. I dont agree with ANY of the nazi sympathizers but i do not associate EVERY german in the war with atrocities. Endlich, as it stands, we will not disallow the name, but we appreciate your input. Thank you.

I disagree aswell.
Here's why, and it may also help you.

Rommel was considered to be a true professional, humane.
His corps has never been accused of war crimes.
Hitler's Kommandobefehl and the orders to kill Jewish civilians and soldiers were ignored by him.

He was a soldier of great value. Disallowing his name is pretty much the same as disallowing Eisenhower, Montgomery, Zhukov, the list goes on and on.

That combined with my usual hesitance to disallow names (excluded obvious racial slurs), I disagree.
But maybe this knowledge will help you.

Oh by the way, the reason he was forced to commit suicide is because he was linked to the July 20 plot, you know, the plot to assasinate Hitler.
