Hi, All:

I was noticing that there was mention in-game about changing fov. I wondered:

1) if it is ok to do so on the server?
2) if it is ok, is it difficult to do?
3) does it help?

For those of you who've seen me play, I stink. I've the reflexes of my great-great-great-great grandfather, and my eyes are getting worse by the day. I play on a laptop (though I'd like to get a desktop in a few months) and have a heck of a time seeing pixel change before it's way too late. I have a blast playing nonetheless. I play purely for fun. That said, I do have a goal: it is (which isn't saying much) to consistently break even on kill:deaths. I know that mostly takes practice and lots of time.

Anyway, I just wanted to make sure I wouldn't get banned if I tried monkeying around with it, and to see if you guys think it would actually help or hinder play.

Thanks.

There are two settings (forget the full variable names), but here are the partial names:

Field Of View "fov" - Allows you to extend/shrink how much to the left/right to you can see on your screen
Depth of Field "dof" - Near objects blur when aiming far, far objects blur when aiming near.

Both are modifiable and are fine to adjust on our server.

I play with default fov (did not like the way it warps the view if showing wider view angle), and I play with dof off (so near and far never blur).

Fee free to adjust those to your liking.

Enjoy.

Great. Thanks, BitterSpock.

I figured out how to change fov. How do I shut off dof? I saw something online like this: /r_dof_enable 0. Is that correct?

Thanks again for getting back so quickly!

And I'm late to the game, especially since I started the thread . . . but, I am thankful, that everyone is thankful, that we can be thankful that we all thank one another. Thanks.

P.S. fov improved my game play, not at all . . . thankfully.
