You may be noticing that when you join you are seeing information like:

When a regular player joins - you see:
console: [OTaC]BitterSp0ck joined the server (25/30) LEVEL: 8 STATS: 4,2

When a fairly new player joins - you see:
console: ANewGuy joined the server NEW 4 matches - PLEASE CROUCH

For the new player you will see the total matches that they play until they hit 100 matches and then we consider them a regular in which case you will
see the top message.

So what does it all mean?

LIMITS (WS/KD)
OTaC has a policy of wanting to have dominant players to "self limit" their gameplay, so that weaker players can still enjoy the game without being completely owned. Over the years we found that an effective way to do this was to impose limits on dominant players that were manually configured based on a player's historical performance. These limits are sort of like a "golf handicap" so that stronger and weaker players can still compete. But now, we no longer configure players to have limits. Instead the bot will look at recent performance when a player joins and make incremental changes to each players limits. These adjustments are only made when a player joins and persists for as many matches played after seeing a joined the server message.

The limits take two forms:
1. Weapon Switch (WS) - As part of rule #10 - every player must switch to a bolt/shotgun after 30 kills. 30 is actually a default for all players, and dominant players have lower numbers so they have to switch to a bolt/shotgun sooner.
2. KD - This is the count of KILLS-DEATHS. The default limit for all players is also 30.

In the join message, this is shown as (25/30) Where the first number 25 is the weapon switch limit, and the second number 30 is the KD limit

If you do not see a limit, then your limit is the default of (30/30)

LEVEL
Once you have a history of at least 100 matches, you will see a LEVEL number. This is simply a count of how many of the last 100 matches that you played that you were ranked the top #1 player as compared to all other players in the match (most kills, and least deaths if a tie, and alphabetic (sorry) if still a tie). So in my case, a LEVEL of 8 means I was the dominant player in 8% of my prior matches. You can still be the dominant player even if your team loses, or if another player has more points in an objective match, it is only looking at total kills. This metric is just for informational purposes and is not used to calculate limits. It is just a simple way to categorize a players ability relative to others.

STATS X,Y
So the STATS show two numbers X,Y separated by a comma.

X = number of times you hit some high number of kills in a match (upper 30's or 40's) with your current WS limit in effect over the last 100 matches.
Y = number of times you hit a high KD target with your current KD limit in effect over the last 100 matches.

The bot has thresholds such that if your X or Y reach a high threshold, the next time you join your X or Y limit will decrease by 5.
But don't worry, if you tone down your game play, you can have X or Y under a low threshold and your limit will increase by 5.
Each limit adjusts independently of the other.

WS (weapon switch) limits may be one of: 30, 25, 20, 15, 10 where 30 is the default.
KD (kills-deaths) limits may be one of: 30, 25, 20 where 30 is the default.

So the most dominant player could have (10/20) limits.

The reason for these new bot features is to remove the subjective nature of prescribing limits which usually involved an admin/member/regular complaining about someone that owned them during a match. This way we have an objective, data-driven approach with full transparency, and if a player does not like their limits, they can tone it down and the limits will ease up after you have enough history (100 matches).

A player may type !info to see their limits, level, and stats during a game.

All historical limits for past dominant players where deleted as part of this change, so everyone starts with (30/30) and a clean slate!

If you have any questions please let me know.

SantGrov is a high scoring player (in the top 3 most lethal that frequent OTaC) - and I see the new bot limits are adjusting to his gameplay. I also see him making an effort to self limit is some circumstances. Let's not call him "Bad" let's call him "Lethal" or "Dangerous" His KD is not outrageous. Yes he is a high level which means he is in #1 spot a lot of the time. If you think he is hacking then please produce the demo that shows this. Otherwise, I think it is fine, he seems to be follow the rules very well. If I need to tailor the limit trip points to reign in the strongest players then that can happen. But the system is new, and the control trip points are new and I need to let the system hit a steady state before I tweak any knobs. The point of the new system is I don't want admin complaining about strong players anymore.

Please also know discussing a player in the public viewable forums is not appropriate, unless it was reported by a non-OTaC person.
So if there is to be more discussion of this player or any other specific player, lets please do this in a OTaC-only section. Not here.
This thread is supposed to be about the system itself.

I always Complaining about strong players because other players Complaining about strong players, for me its good to have strog players, even if they kick my Butt the map down and back, i see it more like a challenge to get better if you play against them. But as Admin of OTaC i had to slow them down , so that all players feel comfortable and welcome to play here.

I find Im still answering this Levels question for alot of players. Ive done my best the explain it all, but I now have my own question.

What do the asterix (sometimes serveral) mean beside the Stats portion of certain players?

I ve got 3 stars (snowcrystals) at the end of my level information.
If someone is asking me, i tell him, that i am a player, that is
able to get deepfrosted...

Maybe it has to do with the "admin"-status?
Showing this is someone able to warn, ban, etc.
(admin, member, deputy,...)

I m not sure, but i think Tom is going to explain in a few sentences.

If your limits have changed recently you get *** at the end to draw your attention to the change for a little while.

New update:

If a player goes ABOVE LEVEL 30 your KD limit is set to 10, yes 10.
We have a couple dominant players that need to self adjust their game play.
It is okay to be at level 30, but 31+ will drastically shut down your fun.

Is there a glitch on the server that prevents your score from being ranked if you leave seconds before the end of the game? because every day I see players who methodically leave the game before the end, and do not appear in the score table. Maybe that way they avoid K / D limitations? That is my doubt because I do not understand why they always enter and leave each game methodically in the same way. Greetings.

I saw that too. New player joined. "0 matches", left before map end,
rejoins in next map, still "0 matches".
But i don`t think this is a major issue. I think the impact on the
calculations is very small one.... very. Because the regulars usually
play several maps, before they leave. I think we can completly ignore
this effect, if it is like this.

If they leave prior to the end of the game then their score does not count towards their overall KD/R or the Bitter Level System (now referred to as the BLS )

This is not true. Does not matter whether a player joins late or leaves early or joins leaves rejoins, if the player kills at least 8-10 people, then the bot assumes it was a full game and their stats are recorded. If they score less than that it is considered a partial game and does not contribute to stats. If you scored high and leave early, it counts.
