Hello all OTAC members. I am writing this post to say that I enjoy playing your WAW server very much. I made a donation (on 1/5/16) to show my gratitude and help keep it up and running. I assure you I am NOT trying to "kill the server". I appreciate the conversation Mr. Mackey had with me on 1/5/16 about the server killer rules. I will try to be adhere to the parameters set for me, but I couldn't find them posted here anywhere. Would you kindly post the "server killer " rules so I can be certain what the parameters are? Thank You and I am not trying to create any difficulties for OTAC. I just enjoy playing on your server and desire to continue to do so. Sincerely and THANKS ! Bolt-BK- |

There are several indicators an admin will use to identify server-killing. 1)A dominant player scores far above all other players. 2)A dominant player uses a superior weapon 3)A player dominates when server population is low 4)Server population drops drastically following map with a dominant scorer. 5)A dominant player getting very few deaths while scoring kills far above all other players These cause other players to leave the server. Any player who is alerted by an admin that they are dominating and potentially killing the server, can follow these guidelines: 1)Keep your kills below 36 for 3 maps out of every 4 maps you play entirely. 2)Never go above 49 kills. 3)Never allow the final kill/death difference to be greater than 15 on maps where kills are above 35. 4)Use bolt-action weapons or shotguns to challenge yourself as you reach the kill/death limits. The point at which you switch to this weapon depends on how you wish to approach your kill/death limits, or the risk you wish to take violating them. It is hoped these guidelines will preserve the enjoyment of the server for yourself and all other players. The final measure will be the health of the server. We will always try to work with players to provide as enjoyable environment as possible. ------------------ Something Really Witty!!! Last edit by MrMackeyMkay at 2016-01-06 at 4:55 PM (3x Edited) |

Essentially we're concerned about keeping the server fun to play. So any behavior that detracts from players (old experienced AND new!) having a good time is a concern. If a few players are always "kicking ass" with certain weapons, it can get really frustrating, especially for new players. Sometimes I'll find myself on top of the leaderboard and my team really beating the other team. As a *clan member and admin*, I need to address that, and will switch weapons to something I'm not very good with in an attempt to balance the scores and not frustrate players. So we just ask really good players to take it easy on the scores, maybe switch to a weapon that you're not as good with. Hope that helps. |

Welcome to the forums Bolt-BK-! I'll preface my reply by stating I'm not an admin, MrMackeyMkay, Honda, and CowardlyBob's posts are the go to. However, I've found the server killing rule/guidelines under Rules in the sidebar menu. When I play games, I play to have fun and socialize, and sometimes let out stress. As CowardlyBob points out, having a good time is why most people play casual games. Personally, I don't actually have a problem with server killers in a traditional sense. I see it as a challenge to improve my own skills. But that's me; not everyone will feel the same way. Newer and more casual players may become frustrated with always being dominated, and leave as they're no longer having a good time. Finding balance is the key, I believe. I know the general courtesy is to switch over to a bolt weapon if you're sitting around 35 kills, or take a break in spectator mode, or use a weapon you're unfamiliar with. My personal approach (when I rarely achieve a high score...) is to simple play slower as I approach 30 kills, or switch to bolts or weapons I never use to help balance out the scores. I think this helps every player have just as much fun as anyone else on the server, and keeps players from leaving the server frustrated. Happy players = Happy server! No one wants unhappy angry server. THANK YOU for response and posting the parameters. While they were mentioned By Mr. Mackey I need to see and study them to make sure I comply. Thanks again. |
