Hi, I believe I was banned in error, for I am not aware of any transgression and was not banned during actual game time. I played last night at 10p CST without incident and today I have not been able to join server and show as "permabanned" ingame tag is CrazyDakka and I was playing on the Outtac tactical crouch server. Once I learned all the rules last week I believe i have been a law abiding citizen and would like to be reinstated to continue to enjoy the game and the server. Thanks for your consideration. Hello CrazyDakka, Short answer: Yes you were banned in error. I have unbanned you. I apologize for any inconvenience. Long answer: A player joined the server around the time you tried to join. That player had a racist name and was perm banned upon join. He was in slot 13 of the server. Bans to be sure they really take effect are issues twice back to back "banclient 13; banclient 13". You being incredibly unlucky, managed to sneak in and acquire slot 13 just as the first "banclient 13" completed, so that the second "banclient 13" banned you too by accident. The system did not even register your Join event to the log. I apologize but I am at the mercy of a fallible system and while I try to mitigate problems (for example I disable subsequent kick/ban on slot 13 for the next 30 seconds) but in this case you are at the mercy of the non-atomicity of the rcon command sequence. Thank you for appealing. You are not the first, wont be the last, but we seem to be at about 2-3 total in the lifespan of the system, which I think is pretty good. You are unbanned. From past experiences, prior to my time here at Otac, I have found that slots will change at times after you are already logged in. COD probably does an update periodically, and re-assignes slots and pushes older logins to higher slots. Dakka, may have already been signed in and playing, then was pushed into slot 13 during this reassign and coincidently at the time the other player joined. Bitter, you might check the logs to see if you can tell if Dakka was already in the server earlier, and if so, you might need to adjust your script to account for this reassignment activity. The auto reassign my happen at end of maps, time based or even upon new players joining/leaving so this occurrence may not be as rare as you anticipated. |
