The Singleplayer & Multiplayer do look amazing! I'm hyped for this game, I hope they've learned from the mistakes they made in previous CoD games

I agree Honda. Dedicated servers is a must for the game to be a blockbuster. So far know one knows for sure.

No, Activision is a business, and like all businesses they need to make a profit and have a revenue stream.
I bought COD WAW when it was released. Other than that $40 or whatever it was at the time, I have not paid them anything relating to the game since that. That is a poor unsustainable business model. I do not begrudge them their revenue stream. However I would like them to offer a subscription-based license that still allowed modding and dedicated servers. Or possibly allow 3rd party map makers to sell custom maps and Activision gets a piece of that profit. DRM is tied to the hosting server account/ID. So server can host adn guests can play but they cannot host that map unless they pay for the DRM license for their account/hosting server.

That's cute and all, but you did not touch on the point of my post: Activision has turned Call of Duty into a laughable franchise, and there has not been a decent COD game since WaW.

Define "decent" .... i.e. list the coveted attributes of the WAW game that are not present in the subsequent games.

Interesting perspective BitterSpock. Let' the community show how much they want dedicated servers and the ability to make maps and mod.. Think about how long we have been playing W@W and how many hours 9has it been worth it). Does anyone think they didn't get a steal at $40.00. Look you pay $60.00 for what looks to be a great game and the guys and gals that are really into it -as we are- pay more to get what we want DEDICATED SERVERS and MODDING. I'd go way over $60.00 for that. Cripe a pair of basketball shoes is an easy $100. It's a hobby, we spend our money for our hobbies!, and frankly if I told you how much I have spent on my other hobby you'd think I was nuts. you don't want in, -- don't pay, but you have to throw something at activision. You say to hell with it, Activision holds the cards my friends, it's up to you and us.

Besides loving CoDWaW,

One of the reasons why i dont play other (newer) games, is the lack of dedicated servers. Before the era of public servers when more or less
all games had dedicated servers it worked, the gamers bought new games, so why cant it work today??
Today, the public servers are full of bunny hoppers and bad language. Public servers are so shallow and boring, no rules, no order, just chaos..

The business has to find a way to turn dedicated servers into a revenue stream or it wont happen. I am thinking a subscription-based hosting license, and I hope they don't require you to rent their servers.
If you have ever played halo (or even minecraft) there is a way to in the game build a base and construct fortresses and add vehicles and weapons. Perhaps if COD had a way to do the same to make custom maps that we could host.

Absent a revenue stream, there is no reason to provide the capability of dedicated servers.

They make so much money on Consoles and do not care about the PC community. A few years ago they said , PC players are a dying race and surprise, surprise, we are still here and strong enough. They failed to kill us off miserable and it is about time we fight back as our numbers are still very much present. Sure they could sort out the server backends to link us together with all the players. And of course they could ask favours in return.Like webpages could implement a link to give them more options and we would gladly click on it.
Hope the game makers/developers come off their high horses and start thinking again.

The 2cents of an old man who started playing in the early 80s and never stopped since.

I love my PC and love COD with dedicated servers!!!!

Im with you on that HansUK .i cant stand consoles to be honest ..PC through and through .But if they can make money they will ..and having dedicated servers isnt really a money maker ,But like some 1 said if the could find a way to charge for the update of a server to a new patch and also charge for the update for the game then we would get dedicated servers ..but untill then we dont stand a chance
