SilentVision brought up a point that I want to make clear with the admin. If you use a sniper scope on a weapon, with no intentions of firing it but to view distant targets, would that be allowed? I faintly remember being told not to have a scope period, but I wanted to get it in writing. Thoughts? |

The rule is clear: No sniper scopes allowed. Since the situation is not mentioned, it covers all the possible scenarios. So that means you can't use it for watching enemies. It's like the pistol rule: only indoors. So when people have the gun outside (and have ammo) and say: "... but I'm not shooting", they are still breaking the rule, because the rule covers those scenarios. An admin should tell the player involved to change his class, because the player must show the example to his partners and all the server Last edit by -Sam_Fisher- at 2018-03-03 at 7:54 AM (1x Edited) |

Sam has it right. At any time we see pistol outdoors (and it is not brief with plan to pick up a weapon off ground), if the player has not prior announced out of ammo, that player is in violation of the pistol rule, and an admin is withing their right to address the violation with that player. If a player has a sniper scope then regardless of intention that player is causing a burden to the admin to ensure that it does not get used. Sniper kills are auto-kicked, but an admin may try to spare the player and warn them to switch to another weapon, they may be taking time out of their game to spec/interact with the player until compliance is reached. That is not desirable. There are some exceptions to "having a sniper scope" and I will list them below: 1. If we are playing a sniper-only rule set then a sniper scope is allowed. 2. if the scoped rifle remains on your back (overkill perk) 3. If the scoped rifle remains on your back (using flamethrower during shotgun map) 4. If the scoped rifle remains on your back (during pistol matches) 5. If the scoped rifle remains on your back or in your hands (during a knife or perks-only match) But since if you sight-in the the admin on duty will assume you intend to shoot someone, and may take action causing a burden, the sighting in of a scope can only be allowed in scenario #1 above. It is irrelevant if the player explains their intent, new players would be confused and so would admin if we had to keep track of what 36 players individual intentions are, so not allowed. |

We never really have to worry about sniper rifle, we have seen player carry it we warn them and they don't listen the bot took care of it but using as a telescope I never seen one, is it ok or not? I never thought about it, I let you guys decide at the meeting then put it in the rules or just let's it slide because using it as telescope player sacrifice second weapon and it's price they pay. I won't do it for sure. would you do it? and if most of you won't do it. why waste energy to enforce another rules? ------------------ Last edit by honda at 2018-03-03 at 9:21 AM (1x Edited) |

I would not care. If someone is using sniper's scope to see a distant player 2 things happen next: 1 he shoots the player with the sniper and gets a kick (problem solved) or he misses. 2 he changes weapon and shoots. wither way no rules are broken and if they are a kick ensues. My problem with this is the amount of not allowed weapons that will be littering the floor, causing confusion to new players. ''you can use the scope of a sniper but not the sniper the scope is attached to'' its just damn confusing. in this light I would say its better to not allow the usage of any kind of disallowed weapon (this sound damn weird). why not the allowed scopes? the telescopic sights? |

Try the bazooka not as good as the sniper but better than iron sights on the larger maps. Good point Last edit by honda at 2018-03-03 at 10:02 PM (1x Edited) |

Alright, no sniper scopes unless the gamemode says it. I will keep it mind for next time I run into the situation with another player. Thank you. |

To be clear I personally agree with Honda "who cares" but the rest of the admin and other players are like "no scopes ... scopes not allowed" etc, so to prevent that consternation it is easier to say no scopes unless scope map. |

Until Bitter-bot automation this used to be a matter of lines drawn. Now it is more of an issue of clarification. If new players come in, they may be confused by the presence of scopes, use them, get kicked, and lose any interest in such a server in which their first experience is negative. ------------------ Something Really Witty!!! |
