I was rolling through player by player in spectate on upheaval and I stopped on jayskull** because I happen to witness him running and taking fire from another player, no biggie, its allowed. After he reached cover, he continued to run to the opposite end of the building. I went ahead and warned him and he immediately answered that he was taking fire. I acknowledged that but I explained that I saw him continue to run way after the firing stopped. I beleive his perspective is different from mine in relation to our opposite views ingame. (I was facing the front of him looking back behind him) Maybe he thought he was still under fire, but the sound of gunfire stopped in my perspective, plus there was no enemies behind him. But anyway, he chose to keep arguing with me and I was about to apologize in case I was wrong but he decided to use "Fucking" in a sentence and got himself kicked off the server. |

It is usually best to not cause confrontation, because that causes things to escalate. And if you are are going to talk to another player that appears to be breaking the rules. Try to say: <playername>, please <positive assertion of what you want player to do> Always include "please" somewhere in your message. For example, Say: jayskulls, please move in crouch, press C If a person starts to be argumentative then just let it go. YOU: jayskulls, please move in crouch - press C HIM: I was under fire <at this point I would gather that jayskulls is aware of the rules, even if he is not following them> <and I would have responded "OK", and let it go> <sometimes you forget you are not crouched and realize later> <we are not trying to punish people> <but suppose you call him out on it....> YOU: you kept running through the building you were not under fire. HIM: Fuck you I was, you are an asshole or YOU: you kept running through the building you were not under fire. HIM: you are freaking blind man, spec me YOU: I am spectating right now, I know what I saw HIM: well then you are an idiot YOU: you are the idiot or YOU: you kept running through the building you were not under fire. HIM: I know the rules YOU: but you don't follow them HIM: yes I do YOU: no you don't HIM: do YOU: don't HIM your mother does and she likes it YOU: my mother is dead HIM yeah but her corpse still likes it So as you can see it far better to have it be: YOU: jayskulls, please move in crouch - press C HIM: I was under fire YOU: OK Because otherwise things escalate and become drama. We hate drama. OTaC is a drama-free zone. When you say "Player please crouch", admin take notice. When we see it happen a few more times we really take notice. So there is no need to sweat the instance of rule-breaking We want to deal with habitual/continual rule breakers, and let the anomalies slide.
