Hey guys...just recently found the game again and was able to play for a couple of weeks, but now every time i click on "find game" in multiplayer it crashes and gives the error "unhandled exception caught". I'm playing through steam and can play solo but who wants to do that? lol. I've tried looking around online for a fix but haven't been able to find one that would work. I've uninstalled and reinstalled, verified files, restarted the pc, tried different sound settings, but no luck so far. Any ideas would be appreciated |

First things - if you have Overwolf (Teamspeak overlay) enabled disable it. If you have steam Friends popups enable - disable them If you are using Avast! or KVG free antivirus - uninstall them Update your sound drivers Update your graphics card drivers. If the above does not work, most likely you have a hardware problem. RAM or disk failure. I would look to find diagnostics that test that. You may also have a cooling problem. Are your fans and heat sink fins full of dust - blow them out Is your liquid cooling leaking/missing liquid ? It is harder to diagnose but a power supply failure could be a cause. Also loose connections from your power supply to graphics cards or other devices. Last edit by BitterSpock at 2023-06-02 at 7:19 AM (1x Edited) |

Do you have Punkbuster disabled in the settings? Maybe it could be doing something. Also, be sure you have the prereqs installed. DirectX etc Try running as administrator, if that works. Set it to always run as admin in the codwaw mp exe properties > compatibility tab Make sure where you have installed the game has permission to read the files. Make sure you are allowing the app through the firewall.(Check any firewalls in anti-virus apps too, not just windows firewall) If you haven't already, follow the above advice. If all else fails, verify the game files in Steam by right-clicking the game, going to properties, then local files, and verifying integrity. That will scan the game, and correct any files that may have been lost or edited. These are the Recommended specs for the game, it's an old game and you should be able to run it. OS: Windows XP 32-bit Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo E4300 1.8GHz / AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 3600+ Graphics: AMD Radeon X1950 Series or NVIDIA GeForce 7900 GTX RAM: 2 GB HDD: 8 GB DirectX 9 Compatible Graphics Card] ------------------ Last edit by TheEarlyBird at 2023-06-02 at 4:03 PM (1x Edited) |

Hello. In the past I have resolved the issue by doing the following:locate C:Users\yourcomputername\Appdata\local \Activision\CoDWaw Once there you will need to delete servercache.dat and _CoDWaWmp files. Hopefully this should correct your problem. If you are worried about deleting these files you can always retrieve them from the recycle bin. Or you can cut and paste them to a folder. Hope this helps. Last edit by geheime at 2023-06-02 at 8:38 PM (4x Edited) |

One last thing, always backup a copy of your appdata file and all of your profiles in case something goes wrong. |

hello! Something visual here to try help: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PipCNLcPet0 This fail for "Unhandled exception caught" mostly is related to the sound settings and sound drivers or devices in this game. So, be sure you check the sound is setting to 16 Bits 44.100Hz Cd Quality or DvD Quality. Most of the times, the fix is this for this issue. Greetings! |
