Hello everyone, Today, I called out H8W8IN for what I saw was an unnecessarily aggressive and negative comment toward me. This is the first time I've confronted an admin in this way, and it wasn't so much to defend myself as it was to speak up for less negativity/hostility on the server. H8W8IN didn't see any merit in my perspective. Wild Turkey joined in and it was clear I wasn't getting anywhere. I was about to drop it when I got a "troll" designation without warning. I don't think I said anything disrespectful, though I can understand why the admins would prefer the conversation not continue. I was and am happy to drop the topic entirely. But when I asked for the troll tag to be removed, or for an explanation of why it was still needed, I wasn't really given an answer other than to be happy I wasn't kicked. As I continued to ask for clarification/removal, all I got was advice to "own it" and a reduction of my message limit to 1. I have hundreds of hours on the server - a long history of positive interaction, and no previous need for a troll designation or even a troll warning. I just want people to treat each other kindly. I am asking admins to: 1. Help me understand why the troll tag was needed, and why it continues to be needed. 2. Tell me what steps I should take to have the troll tag removed. Thank you! |

In general when a player feels the need to settle a dispute in game it becomes disruptive to the server. I wasnt present for anything that went on but from what I can gather you were asked to stop spawn killing/camping. Then the conversation got started. Intentional spawn killing is looked down on by every admin on this server. Intentional spawn camping even more so. Im not saying anything was intentional Im just going by what information Ive managed to collect so far. H8 doesnt start into long time regular players without a reasonable cause. Neither does Wild Turkey, and neither do I. So that being said, when an admin asks you to drop it and play on, whatever arguement or perspective you would like to pass along or conclusion you want to come to might just be better left until a later time. You were told that its better to take your complaints to the forums. This post youve made is the correct process to air out your grievances. We can all take the time in this manner to collect our thoughts and communicate appropriately. Quite often when these things get settled in game there are knee jerk reactions from both sides. Nobody wins, and the admin has to take control for the sake of the server. Being that you are a regular, I feel you should already know regulars like yourself dont get warnings. There is no !wr (run warn command as an example) that will be used after a purely verbal conversation happens. Admin says stop without an official coded warning. Its as good as the real thing. Its right there written in the logs. I know H8 rather than entertain the discussion further just left the game. Turkey told you to drop it and said youre lucky you werent kicked. I changed your troll tag from 5 texts, to 1, because I for the same reason was not going to entertain the discussion further. How many times have you seen the_biter get a troll tag? Must be in the 100s by now right? What does he do?.... he just shuts up and plays. Then we all get to shut up and play. The unfortunate part of this is that you became such a nuisance that you were given the Biter experience lol So what exactly was it that you said to H8 in the first place? Something about "this is why so many players are leaving. I dont deserve this treatment" I dont have the logs in front of me. I would like an answer to that. But besides all that, you need to know. We do this for the server. If youre a problem, we remove the problem. If you exceed the text limit on a troll tag its an autokick. Youve been around long enough to know that. You werent banned, you werent even kicked for time. You kicked yourself you really truly did. Ignoring what you already know. What I know you know. Theres been a long list of long time players in the last several months who have been coming unglued over simple warnings. zero time off kicks and troll tags. The conversation are almost scripted from the regulars at this point. Its the same thing constantly. I want to tell you, and everyone else who reads this... youre not special. Youre not special here. Im not special here. You donated to the server? So what. Youve been here since Honda days? So what. Youre an admin?? So what. You all know the rules, you all play within them. If youre a problem, we solve it. The troll tag removes itself in 24 hours, or 12. I dont remember. Its not important. Youre free to continue playing as much as you want. You always have been |

Thank you for the level response! My initial frustration was that I wasn't asked to stop spawn killing/camping, I just got a snarky, negative comment implying that I did. Whether I saw him spawn (I didn't) wasn't the issue for me - it was that his first response was to be disrespectful to me. H8 and I agreed that he assumes the worst in everyone and acts accordingly, we disagreed as to whether that's a good thing for the server. I didn't see any admin tell me to stop or drop it, or that I should take it to the forums, but maybe I missed it. When I said that I have seen him drive others off of the server, it was to give an example about how his behavior can hurt the server. That's probably where I went too far and got the troll tag. I kept asking about the troll tag because I didn't get a clear answer like you're giving now. I didn't know it expires on its own - I thought I'd just need to keep asking. So yes I kicked my self on purpose and came here to get clarity. It's interesting that you bring up a recent trend of long-time players becoming unglued. That relates to the point I was making to H8. If you treat people with respect, they tend to respond in kind. If you treat people with disrespect, they almost always respond poorly. Admins have a lot of power on this server, and if they're regularly treating people with disrespect, you're going to see a lot of disgruntled players. I think everyone is better off when admins foster a culture of respect. |

Would you like to start wearing admin tags for a brief period so that you can finally learn after all these years playing here exactly how we expect thing to be done? I will gladly leave it up to you and only you any time I am online, to properly administrate the server the way WE see fit according to the rules we have had in place for the last 12 years. Yes or no? |

just l;etting you know that you WAS told by myself too take any problems too the forums about any admin, i have copy off all that was typed and said, also we dont need too tell you too follow the rules that we have, our job is too help players have a good even playing field, we are not perfect just like yourself, you wasnt removed by us as you now know. I try too treat ALL players with the upmost respect but its very hard too do when you have players not doing the same in return, i hope your future gaming is better, cheers |

I was not present during this event, however, please allow me to speak. H8 is one of the best admins here and is a highly respected person and player. If you were tolled, it was for a reason. Relax a bit. Perhaps you will see what Tip is asking you about being a temp admin to see how things are? See you in game. |

Credit to Mr Mtip & wild turkey - the forum is indeed a better place for this kind of conversation. I would gladly take you up on the offer to be a temp admin some time, though I don't know exactly what that entails. I'm sure it would be a learning experience. I've always appreciated the rules of the server. I suppose except the K-D limit when my team is losing - if I could change that one I would. Fortunately that one's not up to admin discretion. OK, I was not going to reply but here it is. I made a comment and you took it further by telling me I should not expect the worst from people. Well, at my age, I have learned to expect the worst and hope for the best and I am proven wrong constantly. You kept replying and I replied basically saying I am not going to change my life or my responses for someone I know only by a game tag. I stopped responding and you kept going from what I remember and you got trolled. I was not the admin that trolled you so I am not speaking on that topic. |

I am sorry that I have only just now looked into the forums. I am the person who initially trolled Jon Tron (5 text limit) yesterday, during what had become an in-game, global text, argument - causing, what I considered, major disruption to the server. Unfortunately, I was called away and had to leave the server only moments after doing so. I hope this explains to Jon why the troll designation was applied and why he did not receive a better explanation of why and for how long it applied. In hindsight I was wrong to do so. I should first have suggested that both H8 and Jon Tron take an hour off from playing to cool down - and that other players input was not helping the situation. Then, should that course of action not have had the desired result, an hour kick for all involved may have been appropriate. Perhaps the senior admins can elucidate on the more correct course of action I should have taken. |
