A lot of the regular players burst running comes when there are no admins online. I think that's when they are noticed the most by the player base. Then that reputation follows them into games with admins present where they still do it, but less openly.

How long does a warning last, in regards to going to the next step in the use of deterrents? If a regular player is warned in one match, then does it again a few matches later. Do they need the next step up, a kick? Or should they receive another warning?

I'm not going to pretend that I know the rules which admins need to follow in circumstances such as the above.

Maybe a reputation system which activates when no admins are online could help,
example:
<> = Required arguments | () = Optional
!rep <player> <+/-> (Running/Burst Running/Griefing)

!rep Capt-Corelli - Burst Running
!rep BitterSpock +

When used it would highlight troublesome players which need to be watched over.

Though this would require some programming by our BitterSpock. His time is not worth this if there is another solution.

Sorry to post this here, but I had to voice my frustration for the regulars who are bursting when an admin's not watching. As Faces has already explained above.

So I do know that if there are no admin-capable members/players on the server can get out of control with runners and rule breakers and people do leave. That means we have a gap in admin coverage. If we have regulars that leave when this happens the obvious and preferred solution would be:

If they
1. care enough to want to help out
2. have an even temperament
3. exhibit rational judgement and behavior
4. are not power hungry
5. don't try to point out every fault like my ex-wife

Then we want to extend OTaC membership or at a minimum admin sponsorship to these people so that we do not have a lapse in admin-capable coverage. It takes a village.

In my experience all the admins and sponsored/guest admins are patient with, and try to edcuate new players on the server rules. With regard to point 5 in your response (answer 22), it is only those regular players who regularly and consistently break the server rules who earn the ire of admins, which then results in the admin focussing on and pointing out every fault and eventually kicking that player for time, so that the admin can play the game without having to constantly monitor/babysit that player. Is 3 warnings, then a no time kick, then another set of warnings then a kick for time really required for such players when all the admins know that such players will continue to breach the rules regardless of an admins presence or not. Just me two cents worth.

"admin can play the game without having to constantly monitor/babysit that player"

Hmmm....

From my perspective, I play the game and admin on death.
Babysitting is really only needed in a few situations:
1. you are recording a would-be hacker
2. you are watching a camper because you really want to kick the camper

Everything else, you should just admin what you see during your gameplay, and when you die, cycle through the players on your team to look for runners or pistol, then press F and play again.
If there are multiple admin each admin handles their team.
If one admin, you only need to switch to spec if players are complaining or you see and enemy run and did not catch the name

Also when kicking it far more effective to kick someone for 5-15 minutes than 1+ days
When a player joins the server, they have decided I want to play WAW at this time. If they are kicked for 5-15 minutes it is short enough that they wait it out and return, and long enough to annoy them. If you kick someone for a day, they just go do something else and do not feel any consequence. The admin feels better maybe. But player has no real consequence.

If you wanted ice cream and you get to the stand and it is a 10 minute wait, you are annoyed but you wait it out.
If the stand said there was a three hour wait, or it was closed until Saturday, you are not going to stay there, you will go elsewhere and get ice cream somewhere else, or maybe you go to the beach. But your fun is not impeded.

Sometimes I will kick a player for the time remaining in the match, so that I can enjoy the rest of my game.
