2023-10-11 at 3:50 PM - H8W8IN: You do realize we have to see the infraction before we can do anything about. it is in our admin rules if I remember correctly. I see comments all the time about somebody doing this or that and when you spectate them, you don't see an infraction. This happens more often than not. Of course. The problem is that often when there are admin on they either: A. Ignore the fact players are calling someone out, and do nothing B. Call the individual out, sometimes multiple times per map as happened yesterday. Then do nothing. This one I don't understand at all. If you see the issue, do something about it. Yes, people deserve warnings, but if you, as an admin, are calling someone out multiple times then you obviously see an issue. Why not handle it? C. Say something in the vein of "I want to play the game too." This has occurred lately more times than I can count. Which is why I stopped playing on the server for a while. I'm not saying all the admins are this way, but several of the ones I see on lately fall into either A or B most of the time. As I stated earlier, there were admins on yesterday during a map, 2 I believe, and it wasn't until Helen joined and saw myself and others calling someone out, who had been repeatedly called out earlier in the map, that anything was done. I get it, sometimes you just want to play and that is fine. However you shouldn't be using your tags if you aren't going to admin. That just makes people more frustrated. |

My solution to 1000 Faces is to put tags on him. He can proactively moderate the server in his own selfless fashion and we can sit back and wait to see how long it takes him to Say he just wants to play too Snap and start kicking every little infraction out of frustration Snap and empty the server with heavy handed tactics and really bad attitude Realise what hes done and take the tags off Come to the realisation that you cant get to everything whenever its mentioned Figure out who the constant whiners are and generally ignore them until the problem is noticed by more than that ONE player I fully intend to sponsor 1000 Faces for 1 or 2 hours of admin duty everytime I see him on. At which point, I will take my tags off and let him do his thing with minimal interference. |

It seems as though my point is being missed. To more clearly address what Tip said: "Snap and start kicking every little infraction out of frustration" - I never said kick for everything, or even punish for every little thing. My issue is when a player is ignoring the rules across multiple maps and is being called out by other players, and in some cases the admin, across those maps, yet nothing is ever done as far as kicking the player, giving them a timeout, etc... "Snap and empty the server with heavy handed tactics and really bad attitude" - Hyperbole much? Nobody wants that. "Come to the realization that you cant get to everything whenever its mentioned" - Of course you can't, that is impossible. Again, please refer to the point I have made several times in this thread. It is when there is consistent rulebreaking going on by a player, or players, and there are admin on, yet nothing is ever done about it that I, and others, get frustrated. "Figure out who the constant whiners are and generally ignore them until the problem is noticed by more than that ONE player" - That is what should be going on, and frankly used to be the way things worked on the server. Something has happened though and some of the admins don't appear to even want to do that. As stated earlier in the thread, earlier this week someone was running and bunny hopping across multiple maps, admin were on and had even said something to the player multiple times, yet he was never kicked or given a time out. Multiple players were also calling out the runner/bunny hopper, but nothing was ever done. A very similar thing, only with 2 campers on Upheaval, was happening and was ignored by the 2 admin who were on, in spite of the fact multiple players were complaining, until Helen joined and played for maybe 2 minutes before she went into spectate, then helped with the problem. That is how it should be done, and when it is not, it is frustrating. There needs to be some consistency. Several admin do stay on top of things, Angus, Taco, and Helen spring immediately to mind, but others seems to be bothered when asked to help with an issue. I get it, they want to play, we all do, but the inconsistent admining causes problems. I honestly don't play much anymore. Figuring out who the constant whiners are and generally ignoring them is EXACTLY whats already going on. Its actually better for the server. Theres a running joke about who gets to wear the Bad Admin T-Shirt in teamspeak. Im still going to sponsor you when I see you in game. I will allow you to admin as you see fit for as long as it isnt detrimental to the server, the regular player base, and the rules. You need a taste of what its actually about giving up your free time for everyone elses benefit to admin this server. I am so certain youre gonna earn your own t-shirt and then say I just want to play too. I am excited for the opportunity to witness your consistency as a guest admin. |

I ran a server, along with 4 friends, for years back in the day. Been a long, long time....but I do remember what it is like to admin a server. I have respect for those who do the job, in spite of what it may seem like, and appreciate the time it takes. What bugs me, and others, is the inconsistency. Again, I'm not on much these days, but if you want me to help, I'll help. I know it can be a pain in the butt at times, been there done that, and I certainly don't mean to imply that no admining is taking place on the server, it just seems like it has become more inconsistent than when I first started playing on the server, and that more rule breaking and shenanigans are being tolerated/ignored/however you want to term it than they were previously. |

Faces, I have given you opportunity after opportunity to put on a tag and come see what it's like when you have to follow the rules as well as enforce them fairly and even handed. Each time you have given me an excuse as to why you cannot help, and yet you constantly whine in these forums about people playing a damned game and the main body of our admin and yet we have to consistently check you about camping etc. This topic, incase you haven't noticed is here for productive suggestions as to how we can increase our online presence and bring in more people. It's not a bitch session about admin or every other player that you don't agree with or get along with. Kindly post your concerns in another thread instead of trying to hijack this one! |
